Quick post from my phone today… as I try and get back into the flow of writing.
Something that has really helped me hit my goals over the past few years has been improving my ability to focus.
It’s really not rocket science. I think it’s also called the pomodoro technique. In essence, setting a timing for 30 minutes and really focusing on the task at hand. Once the alarm goes off – you get a 10 min break – then you’re straight back into it.
Over time you start to extend the 30 minute window.
Disconnecting from everything (notifications, emails, loud noises, social media, etc.) improves your ability to focus deeply tenfold. Anytime you are pulled away from your tasks, it takes time to readjust to them when you jump back in — this can take up to 25 minutes in many cases.
